Q: What to look for when buying a gaming laptop?

A: In today’s market, the gaming laptops are already optimized with everything you need in one tidy package. The Display, Processor (CPU) and Graphics (GPU) will determine how a game performs, while the faster storage (SSD) reflects how fast everything loads.
  • GPU: In general, gaming laptops will have the higher end GPUs, including dual graphics: the integrated chip plus discrete graphics processor dedicated to graphics and video processing.
  • CPU: A powerful, speedy processor and a decent amount of RAM will get you through your most intense gaming sessions. Try for at least a quad-core processor and at least 8GB of RAM.
  • Display: A laptop with at least Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080) will help you enjoy the most of the great graphics of the game that you love. You might also consider a larger display size, like 17.3” - it’ll impact your portability a bit, but the incredible visuals might just be worth it. Keep in mind that a refresh rate of 120Hz is the most optimum refresh rate to go with for seamless gaming experience.
  • Storage: An SSD rather than HDD will boost your boot time, and will install and load your games faster. In terms of portability, an SSD is also working more stable than a traditional physical hard disk drive.
