The 4-propeller cross-type helicopter design takes off vertically, hovers and flies in all directions. A reinvention of Parrot's original AR.Drone quadricopter, the AR.Drone 2.0 comes with a variety of new hardware and software improvements. First off, it has a 720p camera located in the nose of the R/C copter for filming all of your aviation adventures in incredible HD that you can watch live on your smartphone or share on YouTube. Second, it has a feature that allows you to create your own flight path - just set the coordinates and watch your AR.Drone 2.0 go! The new "outdoor hull" design makes it more wind resistant for increased stability, while the mixture of sensors, including 3D magnetometer and pressure sensor, allow the aircraft to auto-orient itself and reach higher altitudes than ever before.

With onboard Wi-Fi, you can control the helicopter using an iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, or android device. Absolutely amazing This is an Amazing helicopter (Parrot AR Drone 2.0) it works really really well works in pretty much all weather, I've flown it in sunny weather, rainy weather, windy days and even while its been snowing. I suggest when buying a (Parrot AR Drone 2.0) you should think about getting multiple batteries as the 1000mAh battery only lasts 12mins but i know parrot are bringing out longer life batteries such as the 1500mAh and the 2000mAh batteries. The drone works well you can get some pretty amazing footage from the 720p HD camera located at the front of the drone, I have flown the (Parrot AR Drone 2.0) quite close to deer and got some amazing footage that you wouldn't get with a standard camera it also works really well for ski and snowboard footage especially when you film jumps. I have also got some amazing footage on a nice calm day i reached 98ft in Altitude and the view was amazing. There is some parts you can buy to maximize the distance of the drone but that can be quite costly but it allows you to reach up to approximately 2000 feet compared to the original 150ft via the drone WiFi which is a huge boost. it costs around $199.00 for the DroneTec QuadMod then you will need to purchase a radio transmitter which will set you back a bit I'd recommend a Spektrum either of the following work well DX8, DX7 and DX6i you do want to use either a 6 channel or higher so that you have the full range of movement as you do using ur smart phone via the WIFI. Well over all this is one of the best Quad Helicopters Ive ever used, Its extremely well designed and made from excellent and light weigh materials it works amazingly and has a ridged and strong framing and can handle a hard crash and be still in working order. Get that video angle nobody else can! It worked with my Galaxy W phone. For USB recording, I tried with a 16GB Nexxtech (formatted in fat32) and it didn't work, but I was able to get it going with an older USB stick. Lots of settings to make it easy to learn how to fly. The software is pretty smart, just watch that it doesn't get unstable after recovering from a tilt. I've cracked the indoor hull multiple times, it isn't built to take impacts, more to allow the drone to bump up against objects without causing a crash. Fortunately, it comes with the tape to repair it! December 10, 2012

fun toy Works well. You have to learn to fly it and a few quirks but it is quite amazing. Video live on the ipad is of mediocre quality but in playback the quality is high. It beams the video back no need for the usb key. July 15, 2012

great fun A load of fun. Product flies well. I've flown r/c planes and helicopters for over 20 years and this is one of the easiest heli's to fly. Quality is a bit cheap...but the internals are advanced. Pricey but fun. July 13, 2012

Poor quality I have been waiting for this for awhile. When it came to the source i got it as soon as possible. When i went home and opened the box, the item looked like it was already used , it had scratshes and tears all over it. I noticed another person wrote a review about this situation and i am very disapointed with the source. I dont know if this is the source's fault or parrat but used products should not be sold for this price. I called source and they said they woukd exchange it but to anyone buying this item, i advise you to check the box before leaving the store. July 7, 2012

LOVE it! Love this thing... I pirchased the kit with 2 extra batteries, the tool kit and spare prop blades, everything fits nicely into the original box. Ive crashed this thing from over 50 feet hit into mature trees... after finding it, everything still worked nicely. July 3, 2012

Stable code, fairly rugged I have had my share of RC cars, airplanes, and helis. This by far is the most stable RC flying toy I have used. Quit touching the controls of the AR.Drone and it does a decent job of hovering in one spot. This forgiveness allows beginners to advance without major crashes. I have had a few bumps that would have lead to costly damage on a typical RC helicopter. I glued the indoor hull back together once with 5 minute epoxy (it dropped to the floor from ceiling height). The repair is barely noticeable. A excellent value if you already own a compatible controller, and a good value even if you have to buy an iPAD2. It is priced as if the onboard video camera is free. Dissapointed by Purchase I've been looking all over BC for this product. Found it in a store where I had to drive out of my way to purchase. Bought the product, went home to open it and was shocked to find that the product was used. It had scuffs, stickers were already attached and you could see it was not brand new. I am taking it back tomorrow and hope The Source will do the right thing and give me a refund. Especially bothered as I had to go out of my way to pick it up. Next time I check the contents before I leave!! Very dissapointed to see this as it was my first purchase at The Source. June 1, 2012

Awesome Helicopter This Helicopter is Awesome. No matter what your level of expierience this helicopter is easy to use. the camera is really good and the helicopter is very stable at very high heights. the battery life is amazing and you can get a good 12-15 minutes out of it. i would suggest buying an extra battery and gear shafts. the gear shafts are poorly made and they break easily so buy some. the controls on the iPhone and ipad are very accurate and easy to use. the streaming of the camera is very good. charging time takes anywhere from an 1h-1h1/2. the copter stabilizes extremely well and i have flown it in 40km/h winds and it works perfectly. check out my video below for a 10m flight May 28, 2012

Fun but needs lots of supervision I decided to graduate from the first Parrot AR.Drone to the 2.0 version which has many more features over the original. It now has more stability controls and a much better camera with a USB port that allows you to record HD video to a thumb drive and view and edit it on a computer. It also has "Absolute Control" which allows your drone to navigate using your position as a reference point. On the whole it works well, but the person who has the iPad, iPhone, iPod or Android device who is controlling the drone really needs to watch for little glitches that can make it hard to control at times. Parrot is hard at work to correct these issues. My advice is to join the online Parrot AR.DRONE Users Forum and keep tabs on what others are finding. It will help you keep in touch with the Parrot engineers as well. Lots of advice can be found here. May 27, 2012

Best....toy...ever!! This thing is so much fun. That being said, 1- the android software was not available for a week after I bought it and even then it is 'beta' but it seems to work well. 2- I flew it for only about 40 minutes with some crashes but after one relatively minor crash a rotor shaft sheared inside the bearing wall, an area that is not even under torque so I don't understand the failure mode at all. I gather from forums that this is disappointingly common. New shafts are on the way from Parrot. They really should upgrade the shaft material. But understand, this thing is fun. The capabilities of the system are amazing. Video is excellent but due to the crash I haven't been able to do much with it. The 'flip' mode is neat and I can see future software upgrades allowing more auto-manoeuvres like this. You need to download the pdf manual online cuz the paper manual provided is near useless but for the most obvious issues (charge the battery, plug the battery in etc). Looking forward to more fun this summer with it. As for the Source, customer service has been outstanding. (Jenny from England was fabulous, both online and on the phone) May 24, 2012

Huge improvement on V1.0 I have had the V1.0 Drone since it first came out and got one of the first V2 drones. The new camera and stability is fantastic. Works great on my Android phone and Tablet plus my daughters iPhone 4s. The bottom camera is useless on the V2 drone for some reason (much better on the V1 drone). Getting a USB to work is a challenge. I finally found an old DANE 16Gb that worked flawlessly. I tried about a dozen others that did not work though. Sadly this weekend it decided to drop out of the sky from about 60 feet up and has broken the cross frame and one of the props. Not a problem I ever had with the V1 drone. Great Performance, Poor endurance. I enjoy flying my new parrot AR.Drone 2.0. Pros: 1. iPhone control is surprisingly accurate and responsive. 2. Surprisingly high altitude ceiling considering the small stock motors. 3. Great features on on the app. The control interface is intuitive and has been designed well. 4. Quick & easy setup, less than 5 mins to get flying out of the box (remember to fully charge the battery first) 5. Video can be uploaded to YouTube right away! 6. Really fun!! Cons: 1. Flight time is about 12 mins, with the stock batt. Wish it lasted longer. 2. The indoor hull can take a strong hit, (like a fall from 3m), protecting the delicate plastic blades & plastic fan gears cogs, but is made of rigid-form, so mine's already cracked, after a fall from about 4m on a windy day. 3. The outdoor hull has no protection for the delicate blades. 4. Could be cheaper? May 20, 2012

Best toy EVER! No joke, this flying computer is the best toy EVER! I've had numerous RC cars and Helicopters but nothing compares. This thing is worth every penny and if you don't have one you're going to want one after you're done reading this review. #1) Absolute control - let's you control the direction of the AR Drone 2.0 RELATIVE TO YOU so when tilt your smart phone to you - it comes to you. No more awkward changing of left is now right because it's facing you. #2) Incredibly stable - even in a light wind it's easy to fly because the on board computer is constantly making adjustments do it doesn't flip over or fly away for that matter. #3) Excellent Range - Taking this thing 25 meters in the air is no problem and only 1/2 the range. I got tired of dodging objects at ground level one day, so I flew above the trees. Unreal HD video footage from up there and yes you can record the video and watch it real time on your smart phone. Feels fragile, blurry camera This drone is fun, fast and agile. However, it feels fragile like it could break at any point and the camera (the main purpose I bought it for) is lower resolution than expected (quite blurry). May 18, 2012

What a blast! The AR.Drone 2.0 is my first quad-rotor copter and the difference between it and the single-rotor RC units is unbelievable. From the moment the Drone lifts into the air, you feel like you have complete control. Using a smartphone/iPod Touch/iPad is incredibly intuitive. Just tilt the device and the Drone obeys by flying in the same direction. The only thing I've noticed is that you need to be in a large area that is relatively free from Wi-Fi interference if you want the HD streaming video to work reliably. Oh, and you'll want an extra battery or two - they take 1.5 hours to fully charge and you only get about 8 min of continuous flight, so though they're pricey, they're worth it. If you're into RC flight, I can't recommend the Drone enough. May 16, 2012
