Bounty Hunter Discovery 1100 Metal Detector
Bought this when on sale
Being a first-time amateur detector user I didn't want to spend a lot of money. After researching various detectors online, I chose this one and grabbed one while it was on sale on the Source website. It arrived quickly and I was ready to try it out on a fair-sized patch of dirt in the back yard that wasn't still covered in snow. I followed the training that's shown in the manual and I was amazed at how well this unit responded. I can hardly wait until spring now and check out our whole yard, especially for our long-lost municipal water access cap, and to hopefully find a couple of minor lost items over the years. If it's as fun as I suspect, I may be heading off to the beach in the summertime, too. Needs 2x9V batteries to run (not included). I would recommend getting a set of metal detecting headphones as well (purchased elsewhere, about $30 + tax for a decent pair), ones with individual volume knobs of both ears as each ear will have different sensitivities to different frequencies. That and so your neighbours won't hate you.

didn't detect well
I tried to follow a buried wire with it. Unless I was about 2" from the wire, it was not detecting it at all. Maybe it was just the amount of wire that was the problem (low metal content) and if you are looking for more solid metal it would work fine.
Needs 2 x 9 Volt batteries (in case you didn't know that).

This is a great machine. My grandchildren are having a great
Time finding different things that are hidden in the grass.

the weight of the detector make using it very easy, it can be carried for long periods of time without needing to rest my arm. great product! Also after doing a little research, I found the price for this detector to be the best on the market.
