great bandwidth
I decided to upgrade my home WiFi router as I was using a 5 year old D-link draft N router with multiple N and G devices connected concurrently that resulted in a max connection speed of 54 Mbps. This Linksys dual band N900 router has received great reviews on other web sites and was recommended by my brother who is a computer geek. Setup was quick and easy. The auto-band and auto-channel connection feature for this router could use some design enhancements. For the price, I am a little disappointed that this router is not smart enough to search for the best connection. The 5 GHz band connects at 450 Mbps in most locations in my house but I can't use this band in my home office which has several metal file cabinets that degrade the signal strength. The router would often connect with the 5 GHz band anyway but with very poor signal quality. This forced me to turn the 5 GHz band off and only use the 2.4 GHz band. This 2.4 GHz band normally auto connects at channel 2 which often experiences inconsistent signal quality. Once I turned the auto-channel selection off and picked a fixed channel (9), I now get excellent signal quality and speed (217 Mbps) consistently throughout the house. I have not tried all the channels yet for comparison.
