Poor reception for me

i live on Charlotte Street in downtown Fredericton, NB and recently gave up Bell sat service in hope that this mini-state (directional) antenna would do the job since a friend that lives in the country by Grand Lake/Douglas Harbour area swears by it that his TV recpation comes in perfect (using this exact antenna) but of the four channels that we have---CBC French, CBC, CTV, Global---only CBC French comes in very good; Global is about a 7/10, CTV a 4/10, CBC a 2/10. i have it mounted atop a 1-story roof on a satellite dish arm. My location has awalys been bad for reception as i previously had a directional antenna and and it had poor reception as well. since there is no digital signal for here, i cannot say when it does that it'd be able to receive it. will have to wait 'til Aug 31/2011 when signal is swicthed to digital to see if it's any good for digital signal. sure envy those live in urban area that pull in all sorts of channels incl. u.s. digital signals. in due time Canada will be fully digital; just hope that all networks will broadcast OTA digital signal. this is a directional antenna. it comes with a remote control box & a wireless remote control that you can program so you can recall the direction the antenna is pointing to when watching a particular channel so everytime you press the up/down button on the remote, the antenna insides the plastic casing rotates; there are 16 rotation settings. kit includes a very long dual cable--co-axial and a 3-conductor cable for the rotator/control box. you'll just have to try it out to see if it works well in your location.

All in one HD over the airwaves system

I messed around with the big 8-bay antenna, but then needed a separate amplifier, and a tripod or mount, plus I should have got a rotator for it too ... but I thought I'd give this antenna a try... it works great. I get as many channels as I did with the other system, the amp and rotator are built in, and I didn't need to mount it as high (went off the side of my garage instead of at the peak of the house), so it's also a lot more discreet looking than a big 8-bay tower on my roof.

It is good for RV and Boat

The unit might be good for RV and Boat which may not have other easy way to get the signal otherwise.
The reception was not very good for my cottage. I only got 5 good stations. The internal rotar idea sounded good but I prefer a wireless control instead of the wired hand held unit.
I will wait for a better technology.

Great Antenna

I bought this antenna as a back-up to satellite, and to get some local stations not offered by satellite.
The results are amazing.
On a mast which was already up from a previous antenna. Iam close to Montreal, I get all of the local stations, and as far as Ottawa (channel 8), though a little fuzzy, and vermont (Channel 57 Digital, clear as a bell).
Easy installation.

No such thing as HDTV antennas

I'm not sure why The Source and other companies continue to propagate the myth that certain antennas are for HDTV and others are not. There is NO SUCH THING as an HDTV antenna. An antenna simply receives a signal and sends it to a receiver. Whether the signal is analog or digital makes no difference, it has everything to do with FREQUENCY. The new HDTV channels are all in the UHF band and, therefore, choosing an antenna for HD should be as simple as looking at the specs to make sure that it is optimized to receive UHF frequencies. If it receives VHF, it does not matter unless you are still using an analog TV in Canada. Analog TV in the US is now history as of last year and it will be history in Canada in 2011. At that time, there will be no operating channels in the VHF band (ie chs 2 - 13) This particular antenna is good, I've owned one and loved it. There is another similar model that states it is NOT HDTV. Again, there is NO SUCH THING - the other antenna receives UHF so it will be just fine for HD broadcasts. DO NOT GET SUCKED IN to sales pitches telling you to pay more for an HD antenna. It's all marketing double speak to extract more of your money.

Until you buy and install one, you never know there are strong signals from your local TV stations broadcast OTA. The quality of which even better than that from the cable company.
I got CityTV, Global, CBC, Omni and even King, Fox, from the States.

The HD picture is amazing with this antenna. I installed it in a top floor closet because my condo won't let me put it outside. I get 18 high definition channels. I'm not a techie, but I was able to put this thing together, just follow directions!

I am a novice when it comes to using an antenna (i.e. I didn't even know how to program my TV to pick up OTA signals). Have this in my attic. Picks up 20 digital channels (US and Canadian). I only use two directions, CN Tower, and Buffalo. Get it!

I got a my Mini-State antenna and added a digital box for my analog TV. It picked up digital channels that I never knew existed.
I get a few USA channels but sometimes fade out, but I plan on move the antenna outside to my roof, that will improve it

Before States went digital was getting 15 stations, 8 american. After switch I lost most of them unless a clear enough day. Put this up in my attic, not only signal staying above 70% but now receive 20 station and Canadian ones still analog improved.

This antenna was great it picked up a lot of channels I never got before including ABC, NBC, CBS and all the local toronto channels. It is a little pricey thats the only downfall I thought. Overall good performance.
