Summary

A 300mm (35mm equivalent) lens in a short 7.2cm body with ED lens elements ensures both picture quality and portability. Boasting the smallest size and lightest weight in its class, this cost-efficient 3.8x telephoto lens uses an ED (Extra-low Dispersion) lens element for optimum correction of chromatic aberrations. Incorporating a circular aperture diaphragm for beautiful defocusing, this lens assures high picture quality throughout the zoom range, as well as providing an astonishingly short closest focusing distance of 90cm throughout the zoom range.

Got this on special for $89.96 to go with my Olympus E620 Digital SLR. The list price on this is misleading. This is a "Standard" grade lens from Olympus, i.e. budget priced. The lens construction reflects this; lots of plastic, including the mount point. This makes me wonder about the long term durability of the lens. In my hands it performs well enough. It's great value when heavily discounted!

I purchased this because of it's size and the quality. I already have the older 40-150mm f3.5-4.5 I'm pleased with that lens but it is very large compared to the newer 40-150mm. I highly recommend the 40-150mm F4.0-5.6 especially for the unbeatable price at the source. you can't go wrong.

Great Price, but...

I purchased this lens because it was smaller and lighter than the 40-150mm lens I already own, which is nice if you're carrying two cameras and four lenses. Oh and of course it was on sale for $95.00 you can't beat that! Unless of course, like in my case, the lens doesn't work.

I cannot vouch for the actual quality of shots from this lens as the one I received appeared to be a return from somebody else that was damage and did not focus. I am waiting for another one. Do not let my experience deter you if you need a lens this size though because you can't beat the sale price and if it doesn't work you can always return it like I did.

On a side note - the lens does not have metal connections like my other lens but I can't see where that would be a huge issue if you take proper care of the item.

Nice Lightweight Lense

A great lightweight lense. I have a similar one but this is half the weight and has a wider field even when zoomed. I have only used it a couple of times but it takes great pics.
