Choosing a Satellite Radio
Satellite radio offers coast-to-coast coverage, loads of commercial-free music and unique programming you won't find on FM stations. When it comes to shopping for satellite radio, there are two main factors to consider: listening location and subscription service.
|
Where do you want to listen? |
If you're constantly on the move, you want a receiver that goes where you go—new handheld units can receive the satellite signal almost anywhere, and have MP3 capability as well. The
SIRIUS Stiletto 100
can store up to 2GB of music from your private collection, or you can download music and programming directly from the live feed. You can even listen to SIRIUS internet radio over any available WiFi network. Whether you're traveling across the country, out for a drive or just walking the dog, these receivers can keep up.
Plug and Play
If you want a satellite receiver that transfers easily from your car to your home, a plug-and-play satellite radio like the
SIRIUS Sportster 4
or the
XM Roady XT
may be right for you. This type of receiver lets you listen through your existing compatible home theatre system or in-dash player with a home or car kit (sold separately). Each kit includes a docking cradle that holds the satellite radio receiver in place and connects it to the power supply and antenna. The screens on plug and play units are bigger for ease of use in the car. Many plug-and-play receivers also have
boomboxes
available (sold separately) that let you enjoy satellite radio by the pool or at the beach.
In car
Listen to satellite radio in your car on your commute to work. With the right accessories, you can move the receiver to a second vehicle or inside your home to continue listening. The Source carries optional antennas that allow you to listen to your satellite radio in a second vehicle. If you need to trade vehicles with your spouse, you can take your satellite radio receiver with you. The home kit lets you tune in from the comfort of your home. You will also find hard-to-find accessories for your satellite radio online through National Parts & Accessories. Just click on "Replacement Parts."
